Frequently asked questions

Do I need an Apple Music subscription?

Yes. BitPerfect uses Apple's MusicKit framework and requires an active Apple Music subscription to browse, search and play music.

Does it work without a USB DAC?

Absolutely. BitPerfect works as a standalone Apple Music player through any output — built-in speakers, wired headphones, Bluetooth or AirPlay. The DAC is optional for the highest quality.

Which DACs are supported?

Any USB-C audio device recognized by iOS. This includes most USB DAC/amps from brands like iFi, FiiO, Chord, Topping and many others.

Can I control multiple receivers?

You can connect to one receiver at a time. To switch, disconnect from the current one and scan for another.

Does it play in the background?

Yes. When used as a local player or receiver, playback continues in the background. The controller also maintains its connection while backgrounded.

How do the listening stats work?

BitPerfect automatically tracks every song you play and builds detailed statistics — top artists, genres, listening trends and peak hours. All data syncs across your devices via iCloud.

What are BitPerfect Cards?

Personalized editorial recommendations that appear on your Home screen. They suggest music based on your listening history, the time of day and your mood — refreshed every time you open the app.

Is my data private?

Yes. BitPerfect does not collect any personal data, does not include analytics or tracking SDKs, and does not transmit data to external servers. See the Privacy Policy below for full details.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Open the app and navigate to the settings or paywall screen, then tap "Restore Purchases". As long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase, your unlock will be restored at no extra cost.

Troubleshooting

A few quick checks that resolve most common issues:

  1. If the app crashes on launch, force-quit it and reopen. If the issue persists, restart your device.
  2. If music won't play, make sure you have an active Apple Music subscription and that MusicKit permissions are granted in Settings.
  3. If your USB DAC is not detected, unplug and replug the cable. Make sure the DAC is USB-C compatible and recognized by iOS.
  4. If the receiver does not appear in the controller's scan, make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network and that local network permissions are granted.
  5. If listening history or stats are not syncing, check that iCloud is enabled and you are signed in with the same Apple ID on all devices (Settings → your name → iCloud).
  6. If "Restore Purchases" does not unlock Pro features, verify you are signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase and that the device is connected to the internet.
  7. If something still does not work as expected, contact support — include your device model, iOS version, app version and a short description of the issue.

BitPerfect is designed with privacy in mind. The app does not collect, store or transmit any personal data about you.

Data we collect

None. BitPerfect does not collect any personal data, usage analytics, crash reports or identifiers. No account is required to use the app.

Data we transmit

BitPerfect does not transmit any data to servers owned by us or by third parties. The app runs entirely on your device. Network communication between devices is limited to the local Wi-Fi network for the remote control feature.

Third-party services

BitPerfect uses Apple's MusicKit to access your Apple Music subscription, Apple's iCloud to sync listening history and preferences across your devices, and Apple's StoreKit to process in-app purchases. These services are provided by Apple and covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. BitPerfect does not integrate any analytics, advertising, tracking or social SDKs.

Your rights

Since we do not collect personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. You can remove all local BitPerfect data at any time by deleting the app from your device. iCloud-synced data can be removed via your device's iCloud storage settings.
